(WHO WE ARE)

In 1996, Voices of Valencia was formed as part of a “music for everyone” program to give people with various levels of experience and music backgrounds an opportunity to sing. After years of hard work and countless volunteered hours of service by dedicated choir members, the Voices of Valencia has now grown into a large community choir.

Averaging over 75 members a semester, the Voices of Valencia is an established group on Valencia's East campus. In 1999, the Voices of Valencia cut their first album, “Voices of Valencia Christmas Style.”

In the fall 2000 semester, Voices of Valencia joined the EPCOT Candlelight Processional. This will become an annual tradition. Arabian Knights opened their doors to the Voices of Valencia as well. In fact, it may become a regular venue for V.O.V. each semester. V.O.V. performs all over the Central Florida area.

In the fall of 2002, the Voices of Valencia hit a mark of over 100 members. Since then the group is averaging 90 - 100 members each semester. In the summer of 2002, the Voices of Valencia released it's second CD, "Bringin' the Swing."

The most recent recording was in 2004 with "Voices of Valencia Christmas Time is Here."  In 2008, V.O.V. will be looking to record another project, more information to come.

The Spring of 2006, kicked off V.O.V.'s Ensemble Development Initiative.  This initiative is to build a better overall ensemble sound as well improve the quality of V.O.V.'s concerts and albums.  This was kicked off in style with a rehearsal and clinic with Derric Johnson, as he worked with them on his arrangements of Americana & Patriotic pieces.

Fall 2006 will be V.O.V.'s 10th Anniversary which will feature more time in clinics, a reunion choir, a celebration of 10 years of making music with and for the community.  As well as a new slogan, "Creating Harmony Through Community" and a new in-house mantra, "Welcome Home."
